Thank you for your interest in the orchestra

We are an amateur orchestra based in Dartmouth, with around 25 players drawn from across the South Hams and beyond.

The orchestra was originally set up by a group of friends who were looking for an opportunity to play locally. Since then, it has grown but still keeps its friendly, sociable ethos. We currently perform three or four concerts a year, including one in the annual Dart Music Festival, each May. The orchestra is a registered charity, and is keen to  support  local charities through its concerts.

We rehearse in St Clement’s Church Hall, Church Road, Townstal, Dartmouth  TQ69SN from 10.00 to 12.00 on Saturday mornings.

In January 2017, we appointed Tim Pithers as our new music director. Tim is a dynamic and talented young conductor who challenges and encourages the orchestra to give of its best. He also directs the Exeter University Symphony Orchestra and numerous other groups across Devon. With Tim’s arrival, the orchestra is looking to exciting future concerts

We are actively looking to expand the orchestra this season and to welcome additional players in all sections, especially violins, violas and bassoons.

There are no auditions, but we ask you to attend one or two rehearsals to see how things go.

If you would like further information or would like to visit a rehearsal, please contact us at info@dartmouth-orchestra.co.uk or give Jess a call on 01803-770460.
